Robert Overton – Associate, CFPS, CFI
Robert has been working with the Building Codes and Life Safety Code in several capacities requirements for 30 years.
As an architectural draftsman, Robert has worked for several firms where his code knowledge was utilized to review Construction Documents and to prepare the Life Safety Plans and Building Code summaries.
As a Construction Contract Administrator, Robert was responsible for maintaining the contractual agreement between the owner and contractor. In this role Robert was able to evaluate unforeseen site conditions and provide code compliant solutions and use his knowledge of the code requirements to better evaluate alternatives proposed by the contractors.
As a plans examiner, Robert worked at the Indiana Building Commissioner’s Office where he reviewed projects for all types of commercial construction. As a building code consultant within a private architectural firm, Robert has worked primarily with projects for the primary and higher education markets and long-term assisted living facilities. In the role of Associate State Architect, Robert was responsible for building code and life safety compliance for the hospital and retirement homes owned by the State of Indiana.
Robert is a member of the National Fire Protection Association. He is a Certified Fire Protection Specialist and Certified Fire Inspector through the NFPA. Robert is a graduate of Purdue University. He has an Associate’s Degree in Applied Science in Architectural Technology and a Bachelor’s Degree in Construction Technology. He is currently working toward a professional engineering license.
